Sunrise Waste management, especially bio-hazardous waste management is more and more becoming a serious issue in the United States, but also all over the world. With the constant global population expansion, the amount of various waste people and their industries generate also increases at an exponential pace. Health care facilities, in particular have become a significant producers of dangerous waste, which needs several government agencies overseeing medical waste management to keep everything in check.

Fortunately, whether we are talking about regular or bio-hazardous or some other type of waste, there are federal and state laws here in the United States that we can turn to. By following these, as well as getting more educated on the best practices and the no-nos of medical waste management and waste management in general, we can make it so that the waste we produce does not endanger our lives in the same way as before and certainly not so much.

One of the things that can help with this is knowing what type of garbage to put into what bag. While it is highly unlikely that you will need all or even half of these bags in your home, office or health care facility, you should at least know those that apply to the waste you generate.

  • Black plastic bags

These are the most common (mostly because of mafia flicks) and are used for non-biodegradable materials like Styrofoam and plastics,

  • Clear plastic bags

Clear plastic bags should be used for anything that can be recycled, like glass, newspapers, cardboard and so on.

  • Green plastic bags

Anything that is biodegradable goes in these bags. This includes food leftovers, but also anything else that decomposes

  • Blue plastic bags

Blue bags are used commonly for glass, certain types of woods, some fabrics and heavier plastic.

And finally we get to the color of the waste bag that holds probably the most dangerous of all garbage and that is the red waste bag.

Red Plastic Bags

Red plastic bags are used to hold infectious or medical waste. As such, they are an important item in every hospital’s bio-hazardous medical waste management Sunrise efforts.

What goes in the red bag? Anything that could be hazardous to a person’s health. This includes body parts, tissue, organs, contaminated items and so on. These bags need to also be properly labeled with the world “biohazard”.

Two types of medical wastes don’t go directly in the red bag, however and these are sharps (which are first placed in the sharps container) and body liquids and blood (which are first placed in plastic container of their own).

Once the red plastic bag is filled, it should be securely closed with a knot, stored in a designated area in the facility and a professional medical waste management company hailed to pick it up and dispose of it. This is usually done by incinerating the waste or disposing it in a designated landfill for Sunrise Medical Waste Management.
