One of the most important requirements of Miami Beach medical waste management involves dealing with bio-hazardous waste removal in a way that is in accordance to both federal and state laws and regulations in Miami Beach, Biohazardous waste is commonly described as any waste that includes infectious or possibly infectious substances and material. Such waste needs to be labeled for easier identification.
Knowing what kind of waste can be considered as bio-hazardous is evidently important for its proper treatment and disposal.

There are six main types of waste that require special, bio-hazardous waste removal. These are:
1. Human blood and blood products
This waste includes all human blood, blood products and any items that are contaminated with human blood. This group also includes tissue containing visible blood, plasma and anything contaminated by other blood fluids.
2. Human body fluids
All human body fluids, whether they are in a liquid or semi-liquid state, are considered as bio-hazardous waste. This includes urine, saliva, semen, vaginal secretion and other non-blood body fluids (human blood and blood products are included in a separate biohazardous waste group).
3. Pathological waste
This type of waste involves human organs, body parts and tissue. Human body parts can especially be considered biohazardous waste if they include biopsy materials and anatomical parts from surgery procedures. Body parts from autopsy are also considered as pathological and therefore bio-hazardous waste. However, it should be noted that skin is not included in pathological waste.
4. Microbiological waste
When it comes to bio-hazardous waste disposal, microbiological waste requires non less consideration than other types of medical waste we mentioned here. Microbiological waste includes all lab waste that is contaminated with concentrated forms of infectious agents. These agents can be culture dishes, viruses, bacteria or specimen cultures.
5. Animal waste
For a veterinary clinic or a research lab, animal waste products include the majority of their bio-hazardous waste. Animal waste comprises of animal body parts, animal carcasses and animal bedding material that could be infected by anything that is contagious to people.
6. Sharps waste

This waste includes any instruments used in diagnosing or treating patients, such as needles, syringes, scalpels, razor blades, but also broken glass and items contaminated with blood or some different infectious material.

Proper Miami Beach bio-hazardous waste removal cannot be executed without first sorting out biohazardous waste according to these six groups. This is important, as each of them requires different kind of treatment and different kind of packaging, among other things.
